About:  All of our therapists are trained in the standard areas of clinical therapy, including the following: depression, anxiety, trauma, communication, stress management, relationship issues, life transitions, abuse, addictions, etc. Their specialties and personal areas of interest are listed below. If a therapist is at capacity on their caseload, "not accepting referrals" will be listed beside their name.



Holly Smee, MA, RCC ~ Not accepting referrals

Holly is the Creator and Clinical Director of HollyTree Wellness Centre. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, is an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and has does equine assisted psychotherapy in the summer months. Most of Holly's time goes to managing the clinic, writing and marketing, creasupervising Master's Students on practicum, and maintaining continuity of care for an established caseload from the past; as a result she is not available for appointments with  new individuals and sends all referrals to the practitioners listed below. Erica Spink, PhD, RCC ~ Virtual and In-person Offerings

Erica holds two Master's Degrees and also obtained a PhD from Queen's University in Sociology with a focus on emotions, trauma, and community health.  Before pursuing her Doctorate she obtained a diploma from Grant MacEwan University as a Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) and is certified in Reflexology, Reiki, Touch for Health, and Neuro Linguistic Programming. She is also a certified birth doula. Erica loves to work with Youth, Adults and Seniors, LGBTQ2S+ and with anyone struggling through life changes and wellness/identity/relational challenges.  She is passionate about meditation and mindfullness, as well as alternative healing modalities. Erin Rodier, MA, RCC ~ Not accepting referrals

Erin is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) who takes an integrated approach to working with children, teens, and adults. She uses a variety of therapeutic techniques such as CBT, Synergetic Play Therapy, Behaviour Analysis, Social Skill Training, Sensory integration, Nature & Adventure therapy, Expressive therapies, Parent Training and Neurofeedback. Erin has extensive experience working with  individuals who experience neurodivergence such as ADHD, ASD and Developmental Disabilities, and also works with anxiety, phobias, depression grief, behavioural concerns, sensory processing issues, and more. Her focus is helping individuals and families feel more grounded and empowered to identify, work through, and let go of what is holding them back. Francesca Ter Poorten, MA, RCC ~ Virtual and In-person Offerings

Francesca is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who obtained a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology. She has also been a yoga teacher and a life coach for over 25 years and is an avid animal and outdoors enthusiast. Francesca holds additional trainings in EMDR, binge-eating, addictions, DBT, and is a Certified Anger Management Specialist.  Additionally, she is trained in couples counselling and offers support for all types of relationship concerns, ranging from extramarital affairs to couples needing reconnection.  Francesca offers virtual appointments by phone/zoom six days a week and has select in-person dates at Hollytree Wellness Centre as needed, typically 1-2 times per month. Helping you to grow, evolve and flourish, Jessica is a registered Canadian Clinical Counsellor, specializing in couple’s counselling, and individual therapy for women wanting to improve their relationship with self, and find inner-belonging. Jessica works from a holistic psychotherapy lens, and uses the modalities of EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Hypnotherapy and Dreamwork. Kathie has a Masters in Counselling Psychology and is registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. She takes a client-centered approach to counselling and works with a variety of treatment modalities, like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based, Attachment-Based for both teens and couples and EMDR. Kathie has extensive experience working with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, chronic health/pain related issues, stress-related issues, addictions, anger management, trauma, family and couples/relationship/marital issues. Katie Strong, MA, RCC ~ virtual and in-person offerings

As a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Katie adheres to the best-practice standards rooted in evidence-based research. Relying on current methods of practice such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and self-compassion and acceptance, Katie works with each client to create a plan to address their specific needs to create lasting change that is aligned with their core values and therapeutic goals. In addition to working with clients to address mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, and trauma, Katie focuses on helping clients with boundary setting, conflict resolution, interpersonal communication, goal setting, and motivation. Kristin holds a Master Of Arts in Counselling Psychology and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Kristin uses an integrated approach of various modalities, including EMDR, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Kristin is also a member of the LGBTQ+ community and specializes in LGBTQ2SIA+. Matthew Wilson-Birks, MA, RCC ~ Virtual and In-person Offerings

Matthew is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and holds a master of arts in counselling psychology. He works primarily from an EMDR and  cognitive-behavioural foundation of therapy (CBT) that draws upon wisdom traditions like Stoicism and mind-body practices including breathwork, hypnosis, and mindfulness. Melanie is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner with a Masters in Counselling Psychology. She is also a Gateless Writing Coach who encourages the use of the written word to heal and grow. She is passionate about helping adults move through any difficulties that may be creating a sense of stuckness in the mental, spiritual, emotional and physical bodies. She offers 20 years of education and expertise in the fields of injury and trauma recovery, stress reduction, and life coaching.
